How to Download a YouTube Playlist in 2026 (Every Video, No Premium)

YouTube playlists are everywhere — full album tracks, course lectures, podcast series, curated music collections, DIY tutorials. Saving an entire playlist for offline viewing is one of the most common requests we get. YouTube Premium allows in-app downloads, but they expire after 30 days, are app-locked, and don't work on desktop or in non-YouTube players. This guide covers the proper workflow to download every video in a YouTube playlist as permanent MP4 files using DropZap's bulk downloader.

The two-step workflow

YouTube playlists are just a list of individual video URLs. The workflow is:

1. Extract every video URL from the playlist.
2. Paste the list into DropZap's bulk downloader.

Step 1: extract video URLs from the playlist

The cleanest way to get a plain list of URLs:

1. Open the playlist in any browser on PC or Mac. URLs look like youtube.com/playlist?list=PL....
2. Use YouTube's "Share" on each video if the playlist has 5-10 videos — manual, but fine for small playlists.
3. For larger playlists (20+ videos), use one of these methods:
   • Right-click in the playlist panel → View Source → Ctrl+F for watch?v=.
   • Browser extensions like "YouTube Playlist Helper" let you click Copy All URLs in one shot.
   • Use yt-dlp --flat-playlist --print url YOUTUBE_PLAYLIST_URL on a computer with Python — outputs one URL per line.

Paste the list of URLs into a text file or clipboard — one URL per line.

Step 2: bulk-download via DropZap

1. Go to dropzap.digital.

Device-specific notes

PC / Mac: Best experience for bulk playlists — you can paste 50+ URLs and walk away. Files land in your browser's Downloads folder.

iPhone: Safari handles 10-20 downloads reliably but may throttle beyond that. Files save to Files app → On My iPhone → Downloads. Move to Camera Roll per our iPhone guide.

Resolution when downloading at scale

DropZap's bulk mode defaults to the highest available resolution for each video. Some videos in a playlist may only be in 480p (older uploads), while others are 1080p — you'll get each at its best.

Audio-only bulk (podcast / music mode)

Watch-later playlists and private playlists

YouTube's "Watch Later" playlist and any playlist set to Private require login to access — DropZap can't read these because it has no YouTube authentication. Export them to a public or unlisted playlist first, or extract the URLs manually while logged in on your own browser.

Very large playlists (500+ videos)

Technically possible but practically limited by your browser. Most browsers start throttling after ~100 simultaneous downloads. For massive playlists, split into batches of 50-100 URLs.

Legal and copyright considerations

Downloading YouTube videos for personal offline use is generally acceptable under fair-use doctrine in most countries, but redistributing downloaded content violates YouTube's Terms of Service and often copyright law. See our legal overview.
