How to Download a YouTube Playlist in 2026 (Every Video, No Premium)
YouTube playlists are everywhere — full album tracks, course lectures, podcast series, curated music collections, DIY tutorials. Saving an entire playlist for offline viewing is one of the most common requests we get. YouTube Premium allows in-app downloads, but they expire after 30 days, are app-locked, and don't work on desktop or in non-YouTube players. This guide covers the proper workflow to download every video in a YouTube playlist as permanent MP4 files using DropZap's bulk downloader.
What this guide gets you
- Every video in the playlist as a standalone MP4 file
- Any resolution up to 1080p (or 4K when available)
- Audio included (not muted like some playlist scrapers return)
- Files stored permanently on your device — no 30-day expiration
- No YouTube Premium subscription required
- No YouTube account login
The two-step workflow
YouTube playlists are just a list of individual video URLs. The workflow is:
- Extract every video URL from the playlist.
- Paste the list into DropZap's bulk downloader.
Step 1: extract video URLs from the playlist
The cleanest way to get a plain list of URLs:
- Open the playlist in any browser on PC or Mac. URLs look like
youtube.com/playlist?list=PL.... - Use YouTube's "Share" on each video if the playlist has 5-10 videos — manual, but fine for small playlists.
- For larger playlists (20+ videos), use one of these methods:
- Right-click in the playlist panel → View Source → Ctrl+F for
watch?v=. - Browser extensions like "YouTube Playlist Helper" let you click Copy All URLs in one shot.
- Use
yt-dlp --flat-playlist --print url YOUTUBE_PLAYLIST_URLon a computer with Python — outputs one URL per line.
- Right-click in the playlist panel → View Source → Ctrl+F for
Paste the list of URLs into a text file or clipboard — one URL per line.
Step 2: bulk-download via DropZap
- Go to dropzap.digital.
- Scroll to the Bulk Downloader section.
- Paste your list of URLs into the input field (one per line).
- Click Download All. DropZap queues each video and streams each MP4 to your browser's Downloads folder.
A 20-video playlist typically finishes in under 2 minutes on a fast connection. Each file is named after its video title and saved as a separate MP4.
Device-specific notes
PC / Mac: Best experience for bulk playlists — you can paste 50+ URLs and walk away. Files land in your browser's Downloads folder.
iPhone: Safari handles 10-20 downloads reliably but may throttle beyond that. Files save to Files app → On My iPhone → Downloads. Move to Camera Roll per our iPhone guide.
Android: Chrome handles bulk downloads well; files go to /Download/. See the Android guide.
Resolution when downloading at scale
DropZap's bulk mode defaults to the highest available resolution for each video. Some videos in a playlist may only be in 480p (older uploads), while others are 1080p — you'll get each at its best.
Audio-only bulk (podcast / music mode)
If you want the playlist as audio-only (for a music album, podcast series, or audiobook), use DropZap's MP3 bulk mode instead. Paste the same URL list into the MP3 converter. Each video is converted to MP3 and saved separately. See MP3 conversion guide for details.
Watch-later playlists and private playlists
YouTube's "Watch Later" playlist and any playlist set to Private require login to access — DropZap can't read these because it has no YouTube authentication. Export them to a public or unlisted playlist first, or extract the URLs manually while logged in on your own browser.
Very large playlists (500+ videos)
Technically possible but practically limited by your browser. Most browsers start throttling after ~100 simultaneous downloads. For massive playlists, split into batches of 50-100 URLs.
Legal and copyright considerations
Downloading YouTube videos for personal offline use is generally acceptable under fair-use doctrine in most countries, but redistributing downloaded content violates YouTube's Terms of Service and often copyright law. See our legal overview.
For individual Shorts (not full playlists), see the Shorts guide. For thumbnail-only downloads, see the thumbnail guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download a whole YouTube playlist at once?▾
Yes. Extract every video URL from the playlist (view-source, a browser extension, or yt-dlp), paste the list into DropZap's bulk downloader, click Download All. Each video saves as a separate MP4.
Do I need YouTube Premium?▾
No. DropZap works without any YouTube account or Premium subscription. Videos save as permanent MP4 files on your device — no 30-day expiration like in-app Premium downloads.
Can I download private or Watch-Later playlists?▾
Not directly. Private playlists require your YouTube login, which DropZap doesn't have. Export the playlist to Public or Unlisted first, or extract the URLs manually.
Can I download a playlist as audio only (MP3)?▾
Yes. Use DropZap's MP3 converter in bulk mode instead of the video downloader. Paste the same URL list — each video is extracted to MP3 and saved as a separate audio file.
