Download Pinterest Pins at Original Resolution (Full Quality)
Right-clicking a Pinterest pin and choosing Save Image returns a downsampled version optimized for feed display — usually 564px or 736px wide. The full-resolution original (often 1080-2400px on the longer edge) does exist on Pinterest's CDN, but it's served from a different URL pattern that isn't directly clickable in the page. To get the high-resolution source you need a tool that constructs the original-quality CDN URL from the pin manifest. DropZap does this automatically. This guide covers the original-resolution download workflow plus how to verify you got the actual high-res source rather than the downsampled feed version.
Step-by-step instructions
- Open the Pinterest pin. Click the pin to open its detail view. Tap Share → Copy Link, or copy the URL from the address bar. URL format: pinterest.com/pin/X.
- Paste into DropZap. Go to dropzap.digital/pinterest-downloader and paste the pin URL. DropZap auto-detects the pin type (image, video, or GIF).
- Click Download. For static image pins, DropZap returns a JPG at original upload resolution. For video pins, MP4. For GIF pins, MP4 (Pinterest stores GIFs as MP4).
- Verify resolution. Right-click the downloaded file → Properties → Details (Windows) or Cmd+I (Mac). The longer edge should be 1080-2400px depending on the original. Anything below 800px means you got the downsampled version, not the original.
About Pinterest downloads
Pinterest stores images at full upload resolution (often 1080-2400px on the longer edge), much higher than the 564px or 736px feed-display version. DropZap returns the original file. Video pins are returned as MP4 at source resolution.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the right-click-save version smaller than the original?
Pinterest serves a downsampled version (564px or 736px) for feed display to save bandwidth. The original upload (often 1080-2400px) is at a different CDN URL that DropZap parses from the pin's media manifest.
What if the original was uploaded at lower resolution?
Pinterest doesn't up-convert images. If the creator uploaded a 600px image, Pinterest stores it at 600px and that's the maximum available. DropZap returns Pinterest's stored version — same quality as the original upload, no more.
Can I download pins from private Pinterest boards?
Only if the board is set to public. Private-board pins require an authenticated session that matches the board owner or someone they've invited. DropZap doesn't have access to private content.
Is it legal to download Pinterest content?
Saving Pinterest pins for personal use (mood boards, design references, recipes, archive) is generally permitted under fair-use principles. Reposting, commercial reuse, or bulk scraping may violate Pinterest's ToS or the original creator's copyright.
